With Superchick's long awaited new album, Rock What You Got, dropping this June 24th, guitarist Dave Ghazarian has given fans a recent update on the record and tour...
"Greetings earthlings and those awaiting the new Superchick Album! This is Dave finally emerging from the rubble from a year jam packed with recording and touring! We have been working like crazy on our up coming album since last fall and I have to say I have never seen one go down like this! Everybody has been stepping up to the plate to outperform anything we've ever recorded and to musically go where no man (or chick) has gone before.
There was actually one time during the recording process that we recorded a guitar part over 100 times just because we refused to let anything go on an album called "Rock What You Got" that didn't represent us rocking everything WE'VE got! We pulled from every ounce of our abilities---Max and I even reached back to our classical piano lesson days to bring you a new twist on things. (amazing--all those piano lessons actually payed off!!) Tricia and Melissa belted vocals so hard they were only able to be in the studio for a few hours at a time and needed a day to rest between sessions to avoid any permanent vocal damage! Matt and I Einsteined musical parts from remote studio locations around Nashville Around the Clock whenever we were away from Superchick headquarters---Speaking of which-- I don't think Max left Superchick headquarters since the New Year!! (although there are reports that he was spotted ONCE riding his motorcycle to go get food supplies). Brandon showed his drums who is boss and got done with his drum sessions in time for he and I to give you a special treat on the album. You can finally hear the meaning of Superchick "garage band". We found a random guitar amp in the studio where we were tracking drums--- I pulled out a guitar and put a mike up : Brandon and I just went for an all out garage band style jam session---all the rawness of full volume guitars and drums with no rules! Whammy bars, dive bombs, double bass, broken strings and all!! -- just the way we did it in Junior High! And it's all there on the album for you to experience for yourself. Remember--if it's too loud--you're too old!!
I hope you were able to catch a couple of the new songs on our current Cross The Line tour which is wrapping up this week. This tour has been amazing and we have all of you to thank for coming out to support us and rocking out with us. The energy has been huge! You guys have totally helped us get through our most jam packed tour ever! Thanks to God for keeping us all safe and healthy and giving us the ability to continue doing what we do! Now give me a chance to go home next week and do my laundry (since I havn't been home since December!) and we will definitely catch you at the summer festivals and come to your town this fall for the Rock What You Got tour where we will have a lot of new surprises up our sleeves and a lot of new songs!! Don't forget our new album "Rock What You Got" will be in stores on June 24th!!! Until then-- get ready to put your books away for summer, enjoy the warm weather, and don't forget to drink your ovaltine!
Signing off for now,
Dave."
